In all above ground pool installation instructions it states that coving is a vital structural element to your pool. The cove is needed to prevent the weight of the water in the liner from bulging out under the pool wall, which could cause damage. You can build up a sand cove during installation but sand could wash out over time. We recommend investing in the prefabricated foam cove.
